I thought I would give you a little update on my fitness program I have been following with the lead up to the season. I have found over the last few years that I have been working out hard and I have been really fit before the ski season, but the majority of my work was done in the weight room in the gym. While this is still very good, and I became very strong, my cardio wasn’t as good as it should have been.
This time round I have been doing a LOT more cardio than I have ever done in the past. So far my training program has consisted of running, bike riding, swimming laps, hill sprints and I have also still be going to the gym twice a week (Not on this road trip though as I have just been doing cardio).
I feel like I have a lot of strength, maybe not as much as I have had in the past, but more than enough to ski. I also think that the amount of cardio I have been doing is really going to help me when I get back to Colorado. The air is thinner and everything is 10 times harder there so I am excited to see how my cardio training affects me in Colorado.
Mid way through my run this afternoon. I ran 4 km up to the light house and 4km back.
Only 1 more day in Byron Bay and Laura and I are driving back to Sydney.
Off to eat some dinner, relax and enjoy my second last night in the epic place!
